Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) level on Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOCs) inside the car cabin with two conditions which is a static condition (parking condition) and dynamic condition (driving condition). An experimental investigation was conducted inside the car cabin of Proton Saga FLX SE with different percentage of VLT level. For both conditions, windows are fully close. During driving condition,   air conditioning system is running while during static condition the air conditioning system was off.  An experiment was carried out during the equatorial season from February 2015 to May 2015. The experiment has been conducted for 50 minutes for each experiment and being repeated 3 times per day. The equipment used a TVOC (Ion Science instrument) which is for detection and measurement of TVOCs, while indoor temperature was collected by using Telaire 7001. The results of this investigation show that the TVOCs concentration changes due to the changes of the temperature difference (∆T). A TVOCs during parking condition are increased constantly while during driving condition are decreased constantly. The best percentage of the VLT level of tinted film for both conditions is 20% because it shows the lowest concentration of TVOCs for parking conditions and it shows a constant decrease against time and the temperature difference, ∆T are in a positive value for driving condition.
