This paper will reviews on the utilization of alcohol fuel properties to the current available spark ignition engine. The focus is on the important properties of alcohol fuels such as density, octane number, heating value and vapor pressure which related to combustion characteristic with its effect on engine performance and emission of spark ignition engine. Also included in this paper is previous researches done using alcohol fuels in spark ignition engine. In addition, this paper also will discuss on the important quality that alcohol fuels should have in order to have better engine operation and emits lower pollutants.
