Supply Chain Model for Gas Pipeline

Abstract
A linear programming model is presented for the optimization of gas distribution network. Gas networks are widely used for gas transportation from gas sources to consumers. The main objective of this paper is to propose a linear integer programming model for gas distribution network from production sites to consumers. Integer programming is one of the most interesting and difficult research areas in mathematical programming and operations research where decision variables can take just constant values. This model is used to simplify the analysis. The model was applied for analysis of north of Iran's gas. The result reveals that cost of transportation could be reduced approximately 23 per cent after using the model.
